Naukri Profile Tips: How to Get Noticed by Recruiters
Naukri is one of the most used job platforms in India, and recruiters search it by keywords, experience, location and notice period. A complete, keyword-rich profile is easier to find. These tips use only features any job seeker has, and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Naukri.
Complete the whole profile
Recruiters filter candidates, and incomplete profiles often drop out of those filters. Fill every section honestly: current and past roles, key skills, education, IT skills, projects, desired job type, location preferences, current and expected salary, and notice period.
Write a headline that matches what recruiters search
Your resume headline is one of the first things a recruiter reads. Instead of 'Experienced professional looking for opportunities', write something specific such as 'Java Backend Developer | Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS | 5 years' or 'Inside Sales Executive | B2B SaaS | 4 years, Pipeline Building'.
Choose key skills carefully
- Add the skills that appear most often in the jobs you want, but only those you really have.
- Include tools, technologies and role skills separately, for example 'Salesforce', 'Cold Calling', 'SQL'.
- Update your skills as you learn new ones. Remove outdated skills that no longer fit the roles you want.
Upload a clean, current resume
Upload a text-based resume with the same job titles and dates as your profile. See our ATS-friendly resume guide for the format. Replace it whenever you change roles or gain a major achievement.
Be honest and clear about notice period and salary
Notice period is a common filter. If you can negotiate it or buy out part of it, mention that in your summary. Give realistic salary expectations so you receive relevant calls instead of mismatched ones.
Stay active, and respond quickly
- Log in regularly and keep the profile updated; activity can influence how visible a profile is.
- Apply to roles that genuinely match rather than mass applying to everything.
- Reply to recruiter messages and calls promptly, politely and with the details they asked for.
Protect yourself
Genuine recruiters do not ask you to pay for a job. Be careful with messages that ask for money, bank details or one-time passwords. Verify the company before sharing documents.
Find the right keywords
Open five job descriptions for the role you want and note the skills and tools that appear again and again. These repeated terms are what recruiters are likely to search for. Make sure the ones you honestly have appear in your headline, key skills, summary and resume.
- Use both the full form and the short form where people use both, such as 'Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)' or 'Customer Relationship Management (CRM)'.
- Mention your tools and versions where useful, such as 'React', 'Node.js', 'Tally', 'Salesforce' or 'Power BI'.
- Add your industry and domain, such as fintech, healthcare, e-commerce or manufacturing.
Write a profile summary that sells your work
Use the summary to give a recruiter the quick version of your story: your role, years of experience, strongest skills and one or two achievements. Keep it to a short paragraph in plain language, and avoid empty phrases such as 'hard-working team player'. A good test is whether a stranger could tell, in ten seconds, what roles you should be considered for.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Leaving the profile at partly complete and expecting recruiters to fill in the gaps.
- Writing a very general headline that matches no particular search.
- Listing dozens of unrelated skills. Focus on the skills that fit the roles you want.
- Keeping an old resume uploaded after you have changed roles.
- Ignoring calls and messages from unknown numbers. Reply politely, even if only to say you are not interested.
